ABOUT ME
I live in North Carolina with my husband, two daughters, and two cats.
I am thrilled to have three middle grade novels out in the world. It has been a long journey, and I have learned so much every step of the way.
Here's one important lesson I've learned: If you quit when you feel discouraged, you'll never find out what you could have done if you'd stuck with it instead.
Or, even better: The ONLY way to fail is to quit!
Besides reading children's literature and writing, I love to teach. I've taught from kindergarteners up to ninth graders in public and private schools. My favorite subject to teach? You guessed it-- reading and writing!
Currently, I'm teaching middle school language arts. I also like to help other writers through AuthorMentorMatch and PitchWars.
My favorite thing to do besides reading and writing is figure skate. I took lessons when I was a teen and failed a figures test nine times but passed it on my tenth try! I guess that's where I first learned about perseverance.
Other passions include coaching my daughter's Odyssey of the Mind team, cooking vegan meals, and being an advocate for human, animal, and environmental causes.
I love to work with students in schools or other community groups. If you're interested in workshops, please see my page about Author Visits!
